(Big) Data displaces Intuition and Experience

Making the right responsive and agile decisions at an operational level within an organization in a dynamic process-focused setting is fairly challenging.

In the past, even in the business environment, making intuitive decisions based on experience was a viable approach. However, there always existed the vision of using ad hoc data at an operational level for making the righ decisions. It is no longer sufficient to just make decisions based on intuition and experience. Executives rather demand for facts and data advising them in course of action.

This holds true not only at a strategic organizational level but also at an operational level based on real-time transactional data. Having information at the right time is critical to make well-informed decisions. Based on advances in Business Intelligence and Analytics (BI&A) tools, management changed in accordance with the mantra “Do we think this is true? Or do we know?”.
